Houston's very own Turkey Leg Hut is said to be a must stop while in Houston. I was excited to go, given all the raving social media posts from various individuals. I'd give my overall experience about a 6 out of 10, however the reservation process was the absolute worst.

You have to first figure out which contact number is the best to call to make the reservations, and once you finally speak with someone they take your info and send a confirmation text. It took about 2-3 hrs to get my confirmation text and once I received it I had about 10 mins to submit my deposit. I received the text at 2:48pm, and the deposit was due at 3pm.

I understand they're a busy establishment, but it was an inconvenience given I waited about 3 hrs for them to get back to me after they told me they'd send a text after we got off the phone. So, naturally I panicked a bit because it was close to the cut off time, and the reservations could be lost for not sending the deposit on time. Luckily, I had my phone in hand -- so I obliged because I really wanted to go despite their not so user friendly reservation process.

Once I arrived, there was no wait since I RSVP'd, which was actually very convenient. However, when I got to the table I was taken aback to see my full name and the amount of the deposit blasted in BOLD LETTERS on a printed paper on the table. Nevertheless, the waitress was nice and attentive.

The order was, a Alfredo Shrimp/Chicken stuffed turkey leg with side of dirty rice, creole corn and the TLH Swamp baked potato topped with chicken/shrimp Cajun Alfredo sauce to share. The second turkey leg was Hennessy glazed, stuffed with chicken dirty rice with a side of creole corn. The Cajun Alfredo sauce on the turkey leg and baked potato were lukewarm, as well as on the dirty rices. So, the order was sent back, and when the new order came out -- you'd think they made it from a totally different kitchen! Because both rices had better flavor and texture, however the Cajun Alfredo sauce still wasn't as hot as I desired.

The turkey leg was smoked to perfection and fell right off of the bone. But, unfortunately I did not taste any other seasonings besides the smoked flavor -- leaving me underwhelmed with the taste. The turkey leg probably would be bomb as f*** if it had more flavor. The best part of the meal was the creole corn! It was some of the best corn I've had, and I was very pleased.

All in all, if you're looking for good vibes, decent drinks, food and hookah -- The Turkey Leg Hut is a Houston staple you definitely should check out!
